Asheville Crafted Real Estate

Where avocation and vocation connect

Craft: an activity involving skill in making things by hand.

Asheville and Western North Carolina is the epicenter of craft. In a community brimming with professional and amateur craft makers, we take pride in our vocation of helping great people find great homes.

Our Core Principles

Nurture First

We’re a relationship-first organization. We want to know your dreams so that we can help you achieve them — whether that’s buying your first home five years from now or your fifth home this year.

Comfort & Caring

We aim to live in the opposite part of your brain as car salespeople. When you work with us, you should feel comfortable and cared for. You set the tempo and we’ll take care of the hard parts.

Perfect Yet Human

We aim to find you the perfect home or investment property, or offer the perfect selling experience. We also want you to know you’re being served by a human not a soulless real estate machine.

Let’s have coffee

Buying or selling a home is a major step. Let’s not commit to anything just yet. How about we start with a coffee or a call?

Richard Fast

Realtor

I got my first real estate license in my early twenties in Ft. Lauderdale. My father owned the local Prudential franchise and I was thrown in to an international group of high dollar agents. It was sink or swim. Fortunately, I swam with my inherent vision to see the potential of a property and my ability to understand my clients’ needs.

I moved to Western North Carolina and got my license here in 2000. My home then was in Lake Toxaway where I sold mostly second homes and spent my down time refurbishing an old chestnut log cabin. Being in the interior design field also, and having renovated over 50 homes personally, I was constantly being asked to help others create a unique beautiful home for themselves. In 2002 I was drawn to Asheville for the eclecticism, sense of community and the real estate market potential.

After moving to Asheville I put my real estate career on hold to focus completely on my interior design clients around the country. Now after 20 years in design and 40 years in real estate I am able to work with a limited number of clients so I can give them my undivided personal attention they deserve. My broker in charge, Toni Ewing, partners with me to give my clients full time thorough knowledge of their real estate investment.

Channing McCann

Realtor

Channing is a North Carolina native who hails from the Raleigh-Durham area and is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. As a child she spent time with her mother who practiced law in Asheville for over 20 years. After graduation, Channing followed in the footsteps of her mother and went in to the legal field clerking for a judge in Louisiana. She then moved back to North Carolina and received her real estate license in 2010. Since then, she’s been honored to work with a number of happy buyers and sellers who have been drawn to this unique and beautiful area. She prides herself in having a good working knowledge of properties and identifying obstacles her buyers may encounter. She meticulously guides her clients step-by-step through every technical detail of their real estate transaction ensuring they feel confident in their purchase or sale of their property. Having a keen eye for houses, Channing has taken interest and fallen in love with old historic homes and developed a green thumb for gardening. When she’s not combing through the finite details of closings and consulting her clients, you can find Channing spending time with her giant poodle, Gus, and her husband, Mark enjoying all of what Western North Carolina has to offer.

Franklin Smith

Realtor

Born and raised in Chattanooga, TN, Franklin fell in love with the WNC mountains while attending Appalachian State University. Since moving to Asheville in 2013, he has become involved locally through the Contra and Swing dance communities and his business, Living Stone Masonry. Franklin has 20 years of experience in the building industry, which has given him a wealth of knowledge about home construction. Add that to the experience of renovating 4 older homes (3 of which he still owns), plus an obsession with property, and Real Estate was the obvious next step.

Franklin’s focus is on customer service- for buyers and sellers. He will be there every step of the way to ensure your needs are met and that the home buying or selling process is as stress-free as possible.

Franklin lives in West Asheville with his beautiful partner Melissa and his amazing dog Layla.

Jenny Torgerson

Realtor

I was lucky to be born and raised in Tryon, North Carolina where our main recreational activities revolve around getting together, eating great food, and building big fires. I was in for a bit of a culture shock when I moved to Berkeley, California for high school. I quickly adapted, and before long was attending rap concerts at the Oakland Colosseum and eating some of the best Indian food in the world.

After high school I came back to the East Coast and earned my bachelor’s degree in biology from Berea College in Kentucky and my master’s degree locally from Western Carolina University where I focused on native plant ecology and education.

Botany has always been a huge passion for me. I have worked as a florist in Columbus, NC, a palm tree nursery manager in Richmond, California, a gardener for Snow Creek Landscaping, and as an ecologist for the U.S. Forest Service.

I adore international travel and have traveled extensively in Mexico, France, and Norway. When home, I am often camping, rock hunting, playing overly complicated board games, reading horror books by Dean Koontz, catching a stand-up comedy show, or going to a swimming hole with my hound dog Amber.

Coming from a family of contractors, builders, electricians, and realtors, I have been roped into many family projects including building a log cabin bed and breakfast from scratch in Winter Park, Colorado, and a full remodel of a 1960’s A-frame in Tryon, NC. These experiences planted the seeds that would grow into my real estate career.

As a realtor, I am detail oriented and enjoy nothing more than helping a client make their individual dream come true. I help sellers and buyers during every stage of the process, from walking undeveloped lots to speculate for home sites to holding open houses. My clients also get the benefit of our vast and trusted network of local professionals like closing attorneys, inspectors, and lenders.
